Photos will help immensely. National re-branded everything. Your "Great Britain" tube may actually have been made there. Or, even more likely, it was made in an Eastern Bloc country during the cold war, and painted with "Great Britain" to bypass import restrictions. Photos will tell. - Thom

Interesting idea. That sounds sort of like the Groove Tubes "Dual" amp format, though the Dual can be set up to run stereo, or as mono, 60-75 watts (depending on output tube choice). Of course, you could use the Mesa 50/50, and just run it in mono - which I'm sure you've already considered...

You're going to have to revise that impression. I've had a 20/20 for years, and dearly enjoy it. Only one rack space portability, and more modest volume - works perfectly for current club conditions. There are many posts here where players state their satisfaction with the 20/20. - Thom

Wow!! This thread has been alive for four and a half years. Although I stand behind what I said at that time, there may have been production changes in the ensuing time, so I can't guarantee that the current-production "Tung-Sol" 12AX7 still sounds the same. Carry on, then... - Thom

My turn... Vintage 6L6G (bulbous "ST" = shouldered tube style; I never thought they look anything like a Coke bottle) will flare up and die in any Mesa/Boogie amp that you put them in. Their max plate voltage is rated at 360V, not the 500+ volts you get from these amps. The only ST-shaped 6L6...
