    EMGS and the IV

I have a few higher-gain recordings I made with my Hellraiser 6 (mahogany body + EMG 81) through my Mark IV: Holy Diver Judas Kiss I think they do just fine, though I personally prefer Dimarzios.

    Deal breaker?

The solution is obvious: you're supposed to buy two of them. ;)

    Horrible News!

Are they good for metal? :D

    WTB: Recto Vertical 2x12

They're detailed on Mesa's product page. I've never heard of them referred to as a "Mark" cabinet (though they fit the Mark's width much better than the Recto's).

    WTB: Recto Vertical 2x12

I used to have one of these, and very stupidly sold it a few years ago. Now I'm needing a cab that's easier to transport than my 4x12 or horizontal 2x12 (but is taller than the 1x12), and the vertical Recto fits under a Mark-sized amp + rack perfectly. I'm hoping to find a local seller (in or...

VIDEOS OF MY BAND TRACKING OUR CD

Looks like fun! Lots of room to work with anyway. Is that a gymnasium? I wish we would have taped some of our demo recording; it's always fun to go back and watch stuff like that.

Hard rock covers - Mark IV + Dual Rectifier

Our cover band CORE just finished up four of our demo songs. I played through my Mark IV, and our other guitarist (hoobafrank here on the Boogie Board) played through his Dual Rectifier. It's a pretty diverse set of songs, and it's cool that the Boogies are versatile enough to cover that much...

Scenes from a memory sound on a mark iv?

I usually can get pretty close to the SFAM tone with my Mark IV; however, I'm using Dimarzio-equipped basswood guitars. The Gibson pickups have a very different voicing.

The Judas Kiss - Mark IV

    Thanks! It's been months, so I don't have the exact settings, but they would have been similar to the following: Lead Gain - 7.5 (pulled) Lead Treble - 6 Lead Bass - 0 Lead Mid - 2 Lead Drive - 8 Presence - 4 Master - 2 EQ (from -10 to +10, 0 is middle line): +3, -2, -5, -2, -1 Mid-shift...

Groove or Die (Andy Timmons) Mark IV,bonus facial expression

Very, very good. I'm in awe of how cleanly you played that, and the tone was great.

Mark IV : Disciples of The Watch (Testament)

What, no Skolnick solo? ;) Just kidding, and well done. My favorite Testament song performed on my favorite amp! :) I've been looking to do this song for ages, but haven't been able to find a guitarpro file to nab the drums to make a backing track from. I could make my own drum track, but that...

The Judas Kiss - Mark IV

Thanks, NJVenom! I agree, the tone is a bit soft. I had the gain dialed down lower, and I tend to underemphasize presence when I record (usually too much). Always something more to tweak (which I love doing, luckily)! Thanks, jdurso! That's the major hurdle I've always had with mic'ing... I...

Do You Like My Lead Tone Here? (Clip Inside - Satriani)

I liked the tone, though it definitely sounded more Petrucci than Satch (probably due to the guitar); Satch's tone seems a bit rounder—and less tube-like, to be honest... I actually preferred your tone. :) Good job on all the string bending... you have great bend + vibrato technique!

    GAH! Error, ProTools guys help

Hm, I've never seen that error before (though I've been using Cubase more than PT lately). You might try inquiring on the DUC Forum.

    get aload of this abomination

Ha! I just saw that the other day when I stopped in to pick up a rack case for my new Axe-Fx. I saw that standing near the entrance to the pro audio section and did a double-take... "WTF is that??" I then did a triple-take at the price tag. I love how the web page for it says "Only $4,999.99."...
