I dont understand what the YellowJacket is for, how it does what it does, and whether it is something I can try in my 5.25 Express.

I know the YJ is a way to let you try other power tubes in an amp. Beyond that I dont know anything about whether I can use YJ's in my amp, and what tubes I would be able to test it with.

Could I, for example, use YellowJackets to put EL34's in my 5.25, in place of the EL84's? That is something I would love to try........ Can I contact THD and get correct info from them about whether YJ's are useful in my amp?

I use YJ's in a few amps I have.
It means I can run them with el84's instead of 6L6's.
Some amps they sound great others not so good.
Check out THD's web site for more info.
Im fairly certain you wont be able to achieve what you're hoping to.

Doesnt and Express already have EL84s in it?

Ive got a quartet that I put in my Triple Rec sometimes for shits and grins. It does lower the volume some, and gives it that class a feel meaning that you better be on your game, if you are a sloppy player the EL84s will tell off on you real quick. An Express Ive heard is a great amp, I wouldnt **** with it too much, just change the V1 tube to a differnt one if you want to experiment.

THD make yellow jackets.
They convert 6l6/el34 amps to el84. Not the other way around.
I wasnt suggesting you get a THD amp. I just meant for you to check out there web site for more info on the yellow jackets.
I love them in my fenders but the Mesa Nomad's 3rd ch turns a garbled squashed mess. Cool on ch 1 and 2 though.
