Yellowjackets in Road King?

Is this as complicated as I think it might seem and require some bias changing and/or modding (if that isn't already?) on a circuit board? After an Express GAS (still don't know what that means) I wonder what my RKII would sound like with EL84s. I know the gain structure is different but how could this be accomplished?

No modification is required with the yellow jackets. If you put it where it is in 50 watt mode, you might want to call Mesa to see which tubes are active in 50 watt mode so you can put the yellow jackets in those slots to make the most out of them. You have the opportunity to really mix and match to create a lot of sounds if you throw in the yello jackets. I only have two yellow jackets for my Roadster, so I put them on the two outside tube sockets in 50 watt mode. I'm not sure with the Road King though because of the extra EL 34's. GAS I think means gear acquisition syndrome.

Haha thanks for that clarification. Yeah Yellowjackets seem like the coolest idea tube-wise because they allow for a lot mixing and matching it seems. They have all sorts of types of tubes too I'm guessing? That's the thing with the RK you choose different tube configs not just wattages so it might be different.

Yellow jacket adapters only accept EL 84 tubes. I've had fun having two YJ and two 34's, or two YJ and 2 6L6, etc.

I put them in place of the EL34's in my RKII & LOVE 'em! I never was a fan of 34's, so it was an easy choice. Just plug N' play...

No Biasing & No Modding. When I get bored with the traditional 6L6 / EL34 tones, I pop these in for a little different flavor. Kinda like an AC-30 on some brutally serious steroids. My normal tube lineup is from L-R, 2 GT6L6GE's, 2 Yellow Jacket w/Mullard reissue EL84's & 2 GTEL34C's.
