Would a Triaxis sound OK with......

...a Subway Rocket amp, or maybe a 50 cal. amp?

I'm assuming it would be a bad idea to run my TA through my sh*tty solid state peavey amp.

I don't play in a band or anything like that, just a small area in my house I like to call my "den". I jam and record stuff on my computer and am looking for some "genuine" tone to record through my EMU 1820-M into my computer.
I'm about ready to shell out the $ for a triaxis, I really like the variety of tones, etc. but do I absolutley HAVE to play through a simul class amp? Plus I'm limited for space, a small 50 cal amp would fit perfect.
I love the sweet tone of the small boogies. and they're much more affordable, plus I want the metal capability of the TA.
I don't play loud very often, either.

Or am I just bein a total friggin nerd for asking?

Your TA will work with your peavey and will probably be a great change in tone.

I suggest before you buy extra/unneccessary equipment that you try the TA with the PV amp. If you only play at home and don't turn up at all then a tube amp would be a waste unless you have a 1 watt or less power amp.

The amps you mentioned are lower powered boogies but are definitely not quiet and need to be turned up to get thier full tone potential explored. Using your TA with a solid state amp is a great starting point. If you want to go to a small rack you can do something like this: Triaxis, Effects unit, 20/20 power amp, 112 Thiele cab, and 112 open back cab (for variety).

I have used the TA with the 290 and 20/20 and can confidently say you will enjoy either amp but for your needs the 20/20 would still be a bit too much power.

Don't forget things like midi footswitches, cables, etc.

when i got my triaxis i was still using a yamaha solid state PA amp into my genz benz 2x12. prior to that my preamp was a digitech2112 and a digitech 2120.

right when i first fired up the triaxis with the solid state power amp i knew i made the right decision. it was 10 times better sounding than my previous setup.

then six months later i bought a peavey classic 60/60 tube power amp and realized how much i loved that tone. of course now i'm running a 2:90 that i hardly ever get to turn up loud.

just buy the triaxis and see how long it takes to get a craving for power tubes.

Cool. Thanks for the replies. I'll definately try the TA first alone with my Peavey, do some recording, maybe become inspired to write some tunes for a change, rather than just play other peoples' music...

I have A Triaxis and a 20/20 ,I have a variety of other power amps both from Mesa and others to compare with,I love the combo of these two units,they work fine together in low volume situations.But you do need to have two speakers.
