New to the forum, but not Boogie amps. :)

This past weekend I bought a used full Recto 4x12 cab.

The person I bought the cab from bought it used from the original owner

The original owner, for what ever reason, re-wired the cab so that only the 8-ohm jack works.

In other words, the two 4-ohm jacks and the "out" jack are not wired up.

I re-wired the cab based on what I could find on the web and I borrowed a volt meter from a friend. However, I think I did something wrong because the readings I get do not make any sense.

Does anyone have pics showing the insides of their 4x12 cab so I can see how to wire it up to factory specs?

Thanks in advance.

MesaLover,

No offence to you but… are you sure that you have your meter set correctly to read ohms?

The ohms symbol is the same as the Omega symbol - it looks like an upside down U as shown below:

You said that you borrowed the meter from a friend so I just want to be sure that you have is set to take the correct measurement (i.e. ohms).

The Recto manual says the cabs are just a standard series/parallel wiring config......

zeeman,

When I borrowed the meter from my friend, he showed me how to set it up an use it so am I almost 100% I am taking the reading correctly.

When I try to measure the resistance on the 4-ohm outputs, I get around 4 ohms..

But when I try to measure the resistance on the 8-ohm output, I cannot get a stable reading, the meter just starts to do all of these crazy things. The values jump all over the place which is why I think I did something wrong.

I just happened to have my cab out today, so I took the plate off and took a picture for you. I'm holding the plate so that the OUT jack is on the left of the IN jack.

The Red line is the second tab down looking from the back of the IN jack. The Blue line is the third tab looking from the back. The bottom tab goes to the White of the bottom 4 ohm jack, which also goes to the first tab on the OUT jack. The second tab of the OUT jack goes to the bottom tab on the IN jack which also goes to the bottom tab on the top 4 ohm jack.

The speakers are wired left and right pairs. The top 4 ohm jack goes to the right pair, and the bottom to the left.

Hope this helps.
