Today I used the FX loop send on the Mark V into a Marshall VS100r solid state amps FX return and had a really nice sound. Will this hurt my Mark V doing this? I did this because I only wanted the pre amp signal going into the Marshall. The slave out on the Mesa is both pre and power amp signals which sounded like crap when plugged into the Marshall.

So my signal chain is;

Guitar >>> Mark V >>> FX send >>>> Marshall FX return >>>> speaker cab

There has to be a patch cable (or any cable) plugged into the input on the Marshall and the other end not plugged into anything for a good sound to come out, otherwise very muddy. All the knobs are set to zero on the Marshall. The volume for it is controlled by the FX mix knob on the front panel. The FX send level on the Mesa is just past noon.

Yeah will this hurt my Mark V doing this?

great then!. The send signal from the fx loop can be use in a lot of ways, I use that signal for recording direct into my DAW and using power amp simaltions and cabinets impulse responses. It's fast them micking the real cabinet and most of the times it gives better results.

In my Mesa amp I use in the fx loop a pedal called Torpedo CAB, it hosts IRs and using them with a real cabinet yields a lot of tonal palets, it's a lot of fun.
