I prefer the powerball to the rectifier series without question. I have owned both.

Do you play at home or are you a gigging musician? The powerpall seems to get better tones more easily when you play alone. The Recto cuts better in a band mix IMO.

Don't forget to consider reliability and availibility of service ....Mesa reliability is legendary and their service centers are plentiful.
For the Engl, who knows? (I don't, admittedly).
You might wanna do some research first....

But all these things being (somewhat) equal, do what your ears tell you to do!
