why is my Tremoverb's reverb so "wet"?

i recently picked up a 2000 Tverb head. for some reason, this thing has VERY strong reverb in that i could play surf music with the reverb knob barely at 9 o'clock. turn it up to noon and i'm counting reverb tails over 5 seconds. i've owned a couple of Tverb combos in the past and they didn't have this "phenomena" w/the reverb. what gives, and more importantly is there a way to tame it?

You could put a smaller pan in there I believe. I think it is a long Hammond. A short Hammond would change that. No positive about any of this .... :D

Don't know much about the amp itself, but in the past I have substituted a less powerful tube in the reverb section to calm them down a bit. Someone could of re-tubed with a higher value possibly? I know in my 60's Bassman heads the reverb calls for a 12au7 and the others are 12ax7..
