I have no idea what model Zappa played, but I know he played them (and about everything else as well)

Anyone know what rig he used?

Not even a Metallica fan, but it has to be the IIC+ years. In my book, it was the first time a sound turned into a concept since Hendrix.

that's one of the most significant things i've heard on a forum. so true. hendrix really revolutionized distortion in general, metallica really revolutionized tight gain and metal distortion. the whole metal distortion was basically more or less revolvant around a mark iic+. intresting. i'm not 100% sure what they used on ride the lightning, however master of puppets was very smooth.

as far as this post goes: john petrucci and the lamb of god fellas.

My favourite Endorsee's list would be:

1 Pennywise(he uses crate now i believe, brrrr)
2 Offspring (are using mark IV's with VHT's)
3 Metallica(dont know what the hell they use nowadays.)
man you're a serious punkrocker! i used to play in a punkrock band when i started playing guitar but i must say i dislike great part of punk music today and would never go back, i'm into every other kind of music... BUT a thing i would do immediately would be an offspring cover band!

Haha, I only like Pennywise and offspring, some Bad Religion and thats it.
I dont like crappy punk rock.
Mostly Metal and rock/ska/reaggae next to pennywise and offspring.

Ty Tabor of King's X. I don't know if he's still using Mesa (He changes around a lot) but his tone on the Dogman album was awesome. He was the one who made me want to get a Recto originally.

For Mark tones, definitely James Hetfield.

GREAT question. Hmm...

Adam Jones - tool
The guitarist/singer from Sevendust (Meh I forget his name at the moment)
Dave and Chris from Foo Fighters
Dude from Chevelle's got great tone on CD but they were disappointing live.
Mike from Incubus
Ian Thornley
Just to name a few faves

Hum

pat o' brian (cannibal corpse), rob barret cannibal corpse, ex malevolent creation). Peter (vader) tony lazaro (vital remains), phil fasciana (malevolent creation)..most of these are just boogie players and arent endorsed

Andy Timmons with John Petrucci riding second place in my voting.

I see George Lynch, Dave Meniketti and Neal Schon on the M/B artists list but I don't really think they've used Boogies that much that I'm aware of. However, I've liked the music of all three of those guys for a long time.
