the power on my roadster keeps going out. then, it will come back on. then go out again. I think the chance is better than not the it's one or both of the rectifier tubes. it's covered by warranty so that's not a problem. but I really don't want to lug this heavy beast across town just to have a guy tell me what I already knew. If I call them and tell them that the rectifier tubes need to be replaced, will they send me new ones?

If they think you need new tubes they will send them to you.

Before you do anything you need to call them. Their customer service is that of an old Mom-n-Pop store: You always get friendly, knowledgeable people just looking to help. They are awesome.

Every time I call them, they are very helpful.

There was one time I called to see if they would send me a hangtag for my DR, and they sent me a catalog, the price list, a printed manual for my amp, and a bunch of stickers, along with the tag.

Very helpful and very friendly.

Easy way to diag the rectifier tubes is to fli[p the switch to silicon diodes and take the tubes out. If it no longer shuts off, then leave the switch on diodes and put the tubes back in and see what happens. (yes a bad rectifier tube can cause problems even if you have it set to diodes.) If nothing happens then flip it to tube rectifiers and if the problem comes back then it's more than likely the rectifier tubes. Take note of everything that happens or doesn't happen durring this proccess and keep it handy when you call Mesa. It will make things much easier for both of you and the fact that you appear to know your stuff in doing a little diag yourself, they will probably send you some new ones anyway. Mesa sent me a whole new set of preamp tubes when I was experience a HUGE volume drop using spongy. Because I did some of my own diag with a couple of known good tubes. Rich was very helpful and appreciated the steps I took to get critical info to try and figure out what was wrong. They really would rather have you do a little detective work than to have to take someone away from everyday tasks to fix something as simple as a tube problem.
