Which Delay?

I want to add some delay to my Dual Rec for leads. Any suggestions on delay pedals? I don't want to go the rack route. Just wanted to see what everyone is using out there. I was looking at the Maxon's but they are pretty pricey.

Analog. Noticed you are from Albuquerque......I lived out there for like 20 years. Went to school at Cibola and lived in Rio Rancho. Moved into the city when I got older and lived off of Academy & Tramway.

I have had years of good tone and good service from my Guyatone Micro Delay. They are inexpensive, work great in an effects loop, and sound great. They do not color your sound. The delayed signal sounds exactly like the signal you put into it. No brighter, no darker. Just spot on.

They're not cheap but they're one of the best sounding analog delays for the $. I posted some clips of me using it in the rigs/tones forum, check it out.

+1 to the memory man. Awesome pedal. It is a little pricey but not horrible. Also it makes for some awesome ambience sounds.

I found a Scholz Rockman Chorus Delay unit on Ebay. It is great. Analog delay & chorus available in a nice half rack space unit. Only drawback is that you can only do one or the other (delay or chorus) but the sound is very good. It beats all of the digital units I have tried.

Also, for my MkIII, delay needs to be in the effects loop. If I put it in front of the input (with my other pedals) then the delay volume level changes depending on the amount of gain that is switched at the amp (lead channel gain vs. clean channel gain vs. dirty rhythm gain). The rockman fits nicely with my rackmount MkIII.

I use a Boss DD3 and a old boss analog delay .

I've been going nuts for myself trying to decide between the DL4 and the Boss DD-20. As anyone can figure out from reading the review, all three pedals sound great, but have found ways to be extremely different from one another. You can't just say any one is better than the other -- it's totally going to be an issue of what kind of music you play and what kinds of delay sounds you like.

My problem is that I tend to prefer the sound of the DL4 but the interface of the DD20. I suppose I could always put one of each in my pedal board, but that's a bit overkill since nobody besides myself will really notice the subtle differences.

The DD-20 is a great piece of equipment. After the headphone jack breaking off my Flextone, and the horror stories I've read about DL-4 durability, I had to go with the Boss, although I must say I'm not a real analoguru so the digitality some complain about with the Boss is fine by me...

I have the DD-20 and it is a pedalboard hog ! It find that it lacks clarity and I never got the sound I wanted in 2 years of use.

For ridiculous money ($399 !) I bought a Tc Electronics Vintage Delay and I can't say enough how great this gizmo is. Only thing better is rackmount to me..... prive is a big deterrent though

If you can find one, the Yamaha Magicstomp II has the best delays I've ever heard - up to 8 of them in series or parallel to two amps panned as you like it. They are based on those in the UD Stomp, but with more processing grunt.

And they're cheap as chips.
