dont get me wrong .. My Road King does everything i need it to. It just doesn't do the "British" thing like I want or expected it to. I was wishing it was a tad more like my DSL50's crunch channel. Which is kind of a "catch all" for low to mid gain marshalls over the years. Kind of between a plexi and jcm800.

Now, on the clean channel with an OCD pedal I can pretty much capture that low gain marshall sound .. not the same of course, but close enough.

Buy a marshall for a marsahll sound, but when I crank my rkii with my roadking 4x12 cab, with a lespaul custom with 57 classics, I personally think it rivals the marshall tone. my drummer is always speechless, and cant believe how it roars. Once an amp is really, really loud, and I mean loud, I think its hard t tell waht kind of amp is humming. Just have fun and believe me the boogie tones coming out of the rkii are stunning.

Stunning for me is an amp that gives you that ummph that both Eric Johnson and Andy Timmons get and the only Boogie amp I've heard that will get it is the Stiletto (the Deuce stage II in particular). I'm talking about the smooth overdriven tubular sound in Camel's Night Out... and the dynamic clipping with the incredible harmonics in Trademark and Electric Gypsy. I'm a MKIV owner and I'm sorry but the Marks and Rectos cannot do these sound anywhere near like the Marshalls and now the Stiletto's can. The incredible thing about the Stilettos is that they get a clean that absolutely kills a Marshall but they also go way past the High Gain of a Marshall into Mark smoothness and bark. I agree the Stiletto isn't exactly like a Marshall but in my opinion after finally having the chance to try a Marshall JVM series... I'll tell you this..... IMHO it sounded like poo compared to the Stiletto Deuce.

I've tried out both the Ace and the Deuce now and I would not be surprised if in 10 years or sooner people will speak of the Stiletto Stage II's doing the same thing using the Marshall sound as it's base as the MKIIC+ did with the Fender sound as it's base. I think these things are going to be holy grail tone classics right up there with the MKIIC+ I know that is a huge statement but I think we're witnessing the making of a major classic. The sounds that these amps get right out of the box are stunning.

This is the kind of testimonial that Mesa needs in their advertising.

I have had my Ace since April, and I still get excited every time I play through it. For me, the sound of the tite gain voice is absolutely perfect.

That's my point... I don't have to by a Marshall anymore... I can get a Stiletto and have better build quality, way more versatility and at about $700 less than a Marshall JVM.
