Like the title said, What's the best boogie combo for playing metal style..?...i want a small 1x12 combo, i was looking for the MkIII or MkIV combo, but is there something better for playing metal?... Like Caliber .50, or something else?..

Any help will be truely appriciated guys.

Thanks

What kind of metal? The Mark III and IV are great for metal, so are the Rectoverb, Maverick, F Series, Nomad, Studio .22, pretty much all of Mesa's Combos except the Blue Angel, and Mark 1, unless you use pedals. Are you looking for a tight sound, thick sound, more in your face, solo work, rhythm work? The more info you give us, the better idea's we can come up with for you.

Thanks guys, we play from Maiden to Metalica, that's about our range. I got offered a MKIII combo for 900$, needs complete new tube as well as the reverb tube doh., don't know if it's a good deal or not yet.

I'd go with the Stiletto Ace. For a 50 watt, 1- 12 combo the thing is freakishly loud. It'll do AC/DC to old school Metallica and beyond...

For Maiden to Metallica I'd second the Stiletto Ace, but the Mark III would do those styles as well. $900 isn't a very good deal if it's in need of a full retube. If it has the 5 band GEQ and an EV speaker in it, I'd pay $800 if it needed a retube, if it doesn't have either, I wouldn't pay more than $600 maybe $700 depending on condition and needing a retube.

realy that low?...i've been looking for a MKIII combo for a while now, and lowest i've found on ebay, was well over the 1000$ mark. the one i'm looking at is the 5 EQ one, bluestrip with Black Shadow speaker.

The newer boogie combos, IE the Roadster, Stiletto, are closed back combos and would work much better for metal IMO. If you are gonna go with an open back combo you'll need a closed back extension cab to go with it to get the bass response you'll need for hard rock and/or metal.

A fully loaded green stripe combo just went for $675. Combo's don't sell as well as the heads for the most part, probably because of the weight. Black Shadow is just the brand Mesa put's on speakers they use, on the speaker it will either say EVM 200 Watts, or MS 150 watts, or Celestion C90/ 90 watts. I have seen some of the combo's go for $1000-$1100, but they were dead mint and fully loaded and usually posted after a dry spell (no mark III's for a week or 2). I see Mark III's on my local CL quite often for under $900 asking prices.
