What tones can you NOT get from a Mark V?

Thanks guys. Now that I have my Mark V, I know what y'all mean.

I'm loving it. Still learning. Right now, channel one is blowing my mind, getting most of my play/tweak time.

Funny, I've been playing for over 25 years. Never thought I'd get an amp and have to read the manual 3 times, and then still wanting to read it again! Quite a different beast than any other amp I've owned.

Thanks again!

I had dreams of being able to cop a Marshall tone on the MV when I first got it. I still had my TSL for a week or two and I would try and try to emulate that Marshall crunch till I drove myself nuts. I got somewhat close but I finally got it through my thick head they are just two different beasts. I rolled EL34s through it and channel 2 came alive but it killed the mojo in channel 1 and somewhat in channel 3.
Now I just have fun playing it as others have said .

I test drove a Rectifier Roadster head. I could not dial in a tone that I liked while in the store.

That sounds about right! The only people who can get a good tone out of Roadster/Road King in a music store are people who have one at home. They aren't the most intuitive amps in the world.
