I own a (ca.) 1990's, slant-faced 4x12 cab with a pair of MC-90 Black Shadow Celestion speakers on the top and two EV12L on the bottom. It's got the old-school, metal-hex grill and weighs four thousand pounds. Anyone know what model this bad dog is and/or the significance of this particular speaker combo?

A picture sure would help. You can upload to flickr or any public host site and copy and paste then use the URL thing-a-ma-jig right above this text spot so we can jet there instantly. Someone here will know what type of cabinet you have.

I think he's got one of these:

If he does:
  • Some came with Eminences on the bottom instead of EVs
Some came with a single mono jack on the back and some had a combination stereo/mono jack plate.
Some had casters attached directly to the bottom and others had the removeable casters.
Some had leather corner protectors and some had plastic.
Some had recessed round handles and some flush handles.
The cabs were called half-back cabs and aren't made anymore.

Some info at http://forum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=55418

That is casually refered to as the halfback cab. The bottom is closed with the EVs and either meets the theile cab specs or is intended to be darn close. The top is open. The intent was to give you the "best of both worlds". They also made a 2x12 matching style. I have one of each. Damn they sound good.

I realize this is the classified section. Perhaps I missed the appropriate discussion because I started this profile from my mobile and overlooked a minor detail... or two. Anyway, I have the recessed handles, mounted castors and single input, but that's the one. Good lookin' out! I just wanted to get a bit of info on the speakers, etc. in case I want to get rid of it. The cabinet itself is beat to Hell, but the speaks are immaculate.
