Im building a pair of thiele 1x12 cabs. I cant afford (or dont want to pay for) the EVM12Ls.

Right now Im torn between the Eminence Delta Pro-12A and the Weber Michigan ceramic.

Opinions? WHat are you guys using in your thiele cabs?

I'm using a EVM 12L and would have considered the Delta Pro if it had the higher frequency range the EV does. My amp is already on the dark side. Maybe I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the 2 speakers but I didn't feel like experimenting so I went with what so many others have raved about and I like it.

The originals turn up on eBay all the time for $150 or less. I'd get one of these before an Eminence P.A. speaker.

Not sure if they are still available but I have EV Force speakers in my Thieles. They were significantly less than the 12L's years ago and had a ?150w? power rating as opposed to 200w. Frequency range specs looked identical and I've always been very happy with the sound. I think EV was seeding the market and giving these away.

Thought about that. But ive never bought used speakers online before. Seems risky, no?

No more risky that buying an amp or guitar in my opinion. As long as the seller is trustworthy and your questions get answered you should be fine. If you're patient you can probably get a good used one for around $100-$125 on ebay or Craig's List.

I bought 2 used EVM 12L's on e-bay, both sellers had a lot of business and very high ratings, think I paid around $140.00 each. The speakers were original, like new, no problems. I bought a new Mesa thiele and it came with the Mesa celestion, sounded good, but I did put in a EVM12L, also sounded good, but different. Think I actually prefer the Mesa celestion in the thiele, which goes against the consensus on the BB!

I have a homebrew thiele with a Peavey Scorpion which I think sounds pretty stinking good!

Thats a sexy lookin cab dude!

I just remebered I have a brand new mesa C90 in storage that ive never opened from a few years ago. That will be for one cab.
And I just scored a nice EV on ebay for just over a 100 this afternoon! that should be a cool combination
