I have a deal going with a guy that has a Tri with the fat mod, does that mean it does'nt have the Recto board in it. If it does'nt are the fat mod units really that bad? I only ask because I've been waiting and trying to decide what to get and I've found one close to me. Can anyone give me the pros and cons of the fatmod? Thank you. I just got back from listening to the Triaxis, I thought it sounded decent, the unit itself is 18 months old, it has never been in a rack and barely been used, I just want to know about the fat mod part, I can buy this for $950 I have a 2/100 Recto power amp and I think I'm going to go with the G-system my main concern is will I be sorry not buying an older model do they sound that much better? He thinks it has the Recto board in it but I'm not sure. Does this sound like a decent buy? Sorry to sound like an idiot but I'm new to rack systems, I've wasted enough money and I want to make sure I'm making a good chioce. Thanks!!

you can have a recto board and the phat mod, this is how i understand it.

triaxis 1
triaxis 2 (recto board tx4, and continous control functions)
triaxis 2.1 (recto board tx4 and fat mod)
triaxis 3 (if you will, tx5 board, fat mod built in)

if you are in the 2.1 category you can reverse the mod (just did this myself), if you dont have the tx4 board, lead1 red is a mess. I would listen to the lead 1 channel and if it's a flubby mess, instead of a high gain chunk fest, then it's the tx5. the tx4 with fat mod was decent, but the low end was too flabby for me, still missed that bite that the non fat mod had. I would just listen first. there are also some serial number ranges you can check (do a search). Price is average.
