So in another thread I mentioned i picked up a Mark V tonight.

However, there are some things that seem a little weird to me, so I wanted to see what you guys got in your boxes.

here's what I got.

-No paperwork. that means no plastic pouch with the manual and warranty paperwork.
-no footswitch pouch.
- a padded amp cover, that has velcro that wraps around the amp, does not say Mesa anywhere that I could see.
- power cord
- midi/footswitch cord
-tags and plastic thing on top of amp.

how does this match up with anyone else's?

I got the 1st one here, no box. The 'clerk' didn't give me the warranty pack or the cord to the footswitch. I went back for it. He put the cord in a bag and forgot the warranty pack the second time. Hazards of doing business with Guitar Center where they go thru clerks like Wal Mart greeters.....

That would be completely unacceptable for me. Mesa includes their own cover - made specifically for the amp - along with particular cabling, literature, etc... I would not have made the purchase - especially the price we're talking about - from anyone who doesn't understand the value of the amp, sale or purchase enough to make sure all the fine details are kept with the amp and included in the sale. This has been a lifelong purchase for me. Felt that way from the day I set my mind to it, saw it, played it and took it home. Anyone buying this amp should expect and experience the same.

I got the cash register receipt as well as a longer, hand-written proof of purchase from the store that they took the initiative to write out. The warranty information also came in a pretty fancy, plastic see-through envelope from the factory. Both my footswitch pouch and amp cover were obviously made specifically for the Mark V and the amp cover said "Mesa Engineering" on it. I received all cables and chords, as well. The only thing I didn't get which I believe not all V's came with, is the little cheat sheet that sits on top of the amp like what some of the Mark IV's used to come with. Overall, the dealer I went through was very nice, and the workers in the store seemed as excited for me to have it as I actually was.

They tried to get me to stay for a while and jam on it, but I wanted to go home and have sex with it immediately.

Sounds like you were missing a bunch of stuff. I got a footswitch pouch, a Mesa Engineering-embroidered cover, power cord, footswitch with cord, manual and warranty documents in a pouch, a "cheat sheet" settings slip on top of the amp, and casters.

I got all of this except the manual. They store clerk did gave me the warranty paperwork and a Mesa catalog in a fancy see through envelope. He apologized about the manual, and called Mesa immediately. They told him that the manual was being updated anyway, I could access it online meanwhile my printed copy arrived.

One thing tho, my footswitch was defective. It didn't activate the Mute or Solo functions. They replaced it on the spot and everything worked great.

I got everything I think you are supposed to get with mine except the manual. Not sure why so many folks don't get manuals at the time of sale. GC found mine and I picked it up about a week later. I did get the footswitch and it's bag, cable, tags, Mesa cover for the amp, receipt and of course...a "get out of jail free" card for when my wife found out how much I actually spent on this thing.

I got lucky at my GC in Long Island NY. They had it in the sound proof room and I got everything it was supposed to come with I.E. Manual, cords, pouches, cover plastic pocket for the manual and warranty etc. I would have not have bought it man to the OP. That is just not right. Call boogie and complain.

I sent some emails to the guy I bought it from, and met up with him tonight.

miraculously, all the things I was missing yesterday when I purchased the amp surfaced...I swapped him the strange aftermarket amp cover for the real Mesa one, I got the Pedal Pouch, and the packet with the manual and warranty paperwork, and I went myself to guitar center and had them reprint a copy of the receipt. Add that to the power cable, footswitch cable, footswitch, amp i got yesterday, and I now have what I believe to be everything that "came in the box." I also got a written "Bill of Sale", as per Mesa's request to transfer the Transferrable Warranty into my name. They told me they need a bill of sale, and copy of receipt and it's all good from there. So glad I asked for it today!

So Yay!

So it all turned out good in the end.

Now all I need is skill, and I'll be a true winner!

I agree it's all in the training and passion of the sales people in the store - some are excellent, some not

I was fortunate enough to buy from the "Mesa guy" at GuitarGuitar in Glasgow. He bagged the 1st MKV head imported into the UK and knew it's likes / dislikes having lived with it for a time. I walked out with everything I needed because he cared enough to get it right

I've been burned in the past, and now buy only from stores who employ guitar / amp nuts as sales people - they give you the benefit of hands-on experience, and know just how to fan those GAS flames that keep you going back, time after time ..... :D
