I have a couple of Van Dammes at the minute, but i'm curious what everyone else is using, as you're always looking for tonal improvements, however small, wherever possible, ya know?

I have been using Horizon for years. Belden wire with Switchcraft plugs.

A friend of mine just bought a $100 cord, can't remember the name, but it starts with an M. He swears by it.

Is there really that much difference? I have some Monster cables too, but they are too bulky and the wire isn't as flexible, so I don't use them much.

Years ago, Monster approached the Audio/Video company that I worked for. They really wanted us to sell their stuff, but they were severely overpriced and most of their stuff was made in the same factories as the stuff we were using at the time, so we didn't go for it. Seemed like a lot of hype to me.

I've just got hold of a Cordial "Top Performance" 6m guitar lead and I'm not sure what to make of it. It came highly recommended, but to my ears it cuts out a lot of treble and, "sparkle". The minute you roll back the volume pot, there's no signal. No "violining" with this cable. It's almost too good! Anyone else find this with these cords?

I have used George L cables for the last 4 years. Once you figure out how to put them together they work great. I formerly used whirlwind cables and the GeorgeL's sound much better.

Mogami, that's the one that my friend uses. He absolutely swears by them for recording.
yeah thats all i'm doing with them right now, when we start gigging i may consider a slightly more durable cable

For right now I use bill lawrence coaxial cables which are a knock off of george L's. I don't know how they compare to others but they hold up well and take a second to fix if they break.

Mogami's are supposed to be on the low end of the High end cabling but are supposed to be pretty reasonably priced if you assemble them yourself. Lavacable sells cable direct and has some useful info. The boys over at hugracksinc are all into the high end stuff.

I use Planet Waves... They are very good quality and durable. Almost zero line drop

:D Slightly more affordable too probably. That's why I started using Horizon about 11 years ago. They were relatively cheap and hold up really well. I still have about 10 cords that I bought 11 years ago. All of them still work fine.

+1 on Planet waves between Guitar and pedal board, pedal board to amp, Amp Di to G-Major. G-major to Simul 395. Still undecided for pedalboard cables. I'm leaning to the GeorgeL's though.

+1 on the Zaolla...I've been looking at their cables for a while now and they seem to be the best quality of any thing else i've ever seen...Has anyone ever tried these? They are on the pricey side...

I had been using ProCo Excaliburs, and the connector on one of them started shorting. I ordered a couple of Lava ELC cables to try them based on a friend's recommendation. I just got them in, so can't yet attest to how they'll hold up, but can say that they are thicker than the ProCo's and have a much tighter fit on the connectors. I also ordered one with the Neutrik cable end and have to say that it's a far superior connector than the clicky thing on the ProCo's. It's very quiet when unplugging without having to go to standby.

So far so good! :D
