What am i looking at as far as an el84 50 cal+?

One of these popped up locally, its got el84s, its a rare color tolex, oxblood or something or another, newish tubes, solid running condition, hes only asking around 500 bucks. im really just getting it as a back up to my dual rec, and to use on lower gain tracks. good deal? its got the graphic EQ as well.

I may be wrong but i never saw a Cal plus running with EL84s. fwik only the first runs of the cal50 series have EL84, they changed it to 6L6 and latter on they upgraded it to cal+.

i had 2 cal50+ one was written volume on the first knob and the second was written gain (newer version). the one written "volume" was WAY better than the other.

i think 500usd for a cal50+ with eq's a fair price (reverb also??). i really love those amps, you cant go wrong. 8)

It may have been an anomaly, but I have seen one single .50 Caliber Plus that had EL-84's in it. I specifically remember the flip switches being on the amp (no metal toggle switches).

It was on ebay a few years ago...I guess someone could have modded it if they wanted to go to the trouble?

WOW, that's really the very first one i saw in my life :shock: and i saw nearly a dozen at least in person.

those babies are very rare, im guessing they are more valuable than the 6L6 versions plus i bet they also sounds marvelous.

did you already played on the one you mentioned above??
