Once again congratulation on the move to the North Pacific.

Sorry to hear about your pesky neighbor [recording forum]. That's a bummer.

[unrelated story] I live in the outskirt of town. Neighbors don't mind me playing loud. Well I was jamming with my Randall Stack (typical generic black tolex, black grill that matched those early Mark Series) powered by my MESA/Boogie Mark II Colesium 300.

Anyway, later one of my buddies visited me for the first time at my home [actual parent's home]. "Oh so you're the one playing Hendrix when I was golfing."

The golf course is 3/4 miles away. :?

A lot of places now have regulations of a certain amount of dB at a certain distance from the property. As well as time restrains. Here they only do something about it if they have three or more complaints from separate addresses. You do have a right to know who the accusers are any time there is a legal issue.

A dB meter is not real expensive or something like this may work ... I have never used any of these.

The funny thing about people that complain about noise is I have found in my experience all of them break the law on a regular basis when it come to the noise laws sooner or later.

The last neighbor of mine that complained was using his chainsaw to cut wood. I had no problem with this, but he was also breaking the same law that he was giving me grief about.

It is best to know your rights. Do not allow your neighbors or law officers to make up the law and/or the rules. That is not their place and they often well if you allow them too.

+1 Stephen...so far my neighbors haven't "offically" complained, but I do see a few startled looks at my house from time to time. My jam room is on the second floor and I can look out over the 'hood while I play. I'm kinda' surprised that I haven't been called on yet, because some days I just blow the walls down for hours...it's therapy..yeah, that's it!
