You looking for a Mark V at all or just the older stuff?
Just the older stuff. The new Mark Vs price point is a little too high for me at the moment (or so the wife says  ).

if you want something local so you can hear it first -i understand completely. without getting your tones straight before you buy, you could be in trading hell.
however, if you are looking locally because you are concerned about quality of gear - "getting taken" so to speak - i can tell you that i have had several "blind" amp purchases through this forum. a lot of integrity here. more than anywhere else IMO. i haven;t dealt with everybody. BUT ... feel pretty comfortable that, if you deal with someeone through here ... you will be okay.

Well, to be honest, the reason I prefer to have a local sale is so that I can actually see the amp as a whole. I don't want to buy a damaged or modified amp online, and then be stuck with it because I forgot to ask a question about the amps condition. For example, I saw a local ad for a Mark IVa head for $1200. I contacted the seller and went to his house to see the amp. We demo'ed the amp and I was certain I was going to buy it. I decided to do a "final inspection" and noticed that someone had scratched out the serial number . I asked the seller about the serial number and how it could have possibly been scratched out on accident. He had no response, and I decided not buy the amp because, IMO, a scratched out serial number = stolen.
Also, I have noticed that alot of the ebay auctions state "no retrurns" and that has me a little concerned just because if the seller did not disclose a problem with the amp (or side-stepped any of my questions), I just lost my money.
I just want a straight up, unmodified/unbroken/unrepaired Mark IV or Mark IIC in decent condition. That's all. If there is a fellow "Boogie Brother" on this forum that has an amp to sell, I will absolutely consider it, but we would have to work out the "details of the sale", so that both of us walk away happy. Thanks for sharing your experiences!

If your avatar is any indication of what you like then you'll love the IIC+ or the IV.
Absolutely! I play alot of different styles, but Thrash is my favorite. It was my introduction into "heavy" music, and there is just something about that I love. I have a Triple Rectifier, and even though it has a TON of gain, I need an amp that can handle fast, plam-muted rhythm work, and liquid lead lines. My Recto sounds great for heavy metal, but seems to lack clarity in the fast palm-muted work that I have been playing lately.
Thank you all for your responses!!!!
