Volume Master or Channel

Is it better to have the channel volume or master volume turned up. I have channel 3 Mark 4 mode volume at about 11 and the master at 10. It is very hard to adjust the overall master volume it is so picky if I barely touch it the volume goes way up or down

That's about where my volumes are set also. I haven't had a problem with my master volume being touchy.

I run the master on channel 3 around 9:00-9:30 and adjust everything else around that.

If I take channel 3 above 10:00 I find it starts to overdrive stuff in my FX loop. The results are a bit thicker, but also a lot muddier.
