hey guys...
been having trouble with this problem again... i already change the tubes in v3 and v5... actually i think there is some miss connection coz a couple of minutes before i was playing and the volume went down... in my anger with it i kind of punch it right next to the top handle and the volume came back...
what do you think you guys?
does anybody have or had this kind of trouble?

What brand of tubes are installed?

The V3 and V5 are both cathode follower positions. Russian tubes no longer tolerate the voltages that are present in those locations and volume fluctuations are a symptom of the tubes failing. In those two spots you want either a JJ or Chinese preamp tube.

sorry about that...

but i've had it with the amp... all the connections are ok in terms of cables going into the amp and effects loop... next week i'm going to bring it to a technician... and have it a look inside the amp...

I had a problem like this a long time ago - took two trips out to Mesa for them to even find it. At first, I thought it was a problem in the preamp tubes. It ended up being a few bad capacitors. They replaced them and I haven't had a problem since.
