Hey, the price was right!

Hi Y'all -

I had to post a follow-up on this older thread about eBay seller vintagevalvesetc as a warning to potential customers.

I have had several transactions with this eBayer (a.k.a. Eleuterio Alejos, Jr.), and his behavior has become increasingly erratic and unreliable over the last year. I don't think I'm the only one, either, but I can't tell because his feedback has now gone "private," with 8 negatives in the past few months.

Earlier transactions went smoothly, but on my second-to-last transaction, it took him ten weeks to finally deliver tubes. His communications became infrequent, and he had a plausible personal/family emergency story to explain, but he was also clearly lying about some things (favored/oft-repeated lie: "I'll send the tubes out first thing tomorrow morning").

On the latest, and last transaction I attempted with him, he hadn't sent the tubes after three weeks, and tried out his favorite line/lie (see above). In good faith, I waited ten days, and informed him I'd file a PayPal dispute claim if I didn't get the tubes within a week. After another week passed, with no communication, I filed the claim ($100). He never responded. To PayPal's credit, they recovered my money in full.

I'm not sure why he chose not to simply send the tubes to complete the sale - it was a good amount of money for the tubes I wanted. He seems sincere on the phone, but I think he's got some real unconscious pathology haunting him.

Anyway, be warned - the tubes have been great, but the hassle is definitely not worth it.

Thanks for the heads up!

FWIW, I've bought a few tubes from TejasTubes.com

Good stuff, and super-fast shipping.

I really dig the RFT 12X7's. They sound great in my Vibro-Clone!

And thanks for your tip, Russ. I'm glad to hear positive reviews - that's what I prefer to post, personally. TT has a great price on black-plate Sylvania 6BQ5, which is a mighty fine tube. By the way, I like RFT ECC83 too, though I only use them for special occasions.
