First-I am aware that these are not Fryette designs. Secondly-I am also aware that original Fryette VHTs are awesome. I am not judging the amp based on any comparison with the original VHT's nor do I care much about all the drama surrounding Fryette and his loss of the name after putting it up as collateral on a loan he was unable to repay. I do not own an original VHT so I am impartial. That being said a shop where I teach got them in and I was asked to check it out. It has 1 6v6, 1 12ax7, 1 volume knob, 1 tone knob, High power (6 watts) low power (3 watts), High and Low inputs. It's point to point hand wired (albeit in China) has bulky transformers and is solidly constructed. It is really well put together and it sounds really nice. It doesn't do high gain its basically a clean amp that can be pushed into mild overdrive at higher volumes. The cleans are really nice- fenderesque and it makes a great pedal platform. If you have a good od/distortion pedal and its a very good little rig for teaching lessons, small rehearsals, and low key jams. I tried it with a Blackstar HT Dual and line 6 dl4 and it sounded fantastic. I had been wanting to get a lower powered tube amp that is more portable and lighter my Roadster or Twin and this thing just kind of came along. When I found out they are only $200 I decided I had to have one. I bought one at dealer cost which is even less and couldn't be happier with what I got for what I paid.
