****, I found myself switching back and forth last night. I cannot decide which I prefer. Anybody else struggling w/ their preference?

The couple of times ive taken my recto into a studio, Ive tracked all my parts in tube rectifier mode. For live I use the silicon and bold settings.

Live I always use the the silicon diodes. In studio recordings i've used both the vaccum tubes and the Diodes. Just depends on the sound i'm going for. The Silicon diodes are much tighter sounding especially when playing at loud volumes. But the tubes have the "sag" effect which can sound really sweet. And I always keep the power on the bold setting.

Use the search function!!!! There are many topics regarding this question!

To answer though, I am nearly always on the diodes. I haven't found a whole lot of use for the tube rectifiers, but I don't use my Recto for many things either. For a great metal rhythm tone, I wouldn't want anything else.

For recording, Diodes/Bold on rhythm tracks, Tube (5U4gb) and Spongy for solos.
For live, Bold/Tube (5AR4/GZ34).

This for the win. The only difference for me is I use Bold/Diodes live, though I typically keep 5U4G's or 5U4GB's in my amps instead of GZ34's.
