I picked myself up another V-Twin on eBay, this time the version with the switch on the bottom that allows me to fix it so I can go from Clean to Blues.

The unit is in excellent cosmetic condition, look barely used.

However, when I checked it out, it seems that the solo channel is not functioning properly. Clean sounds fine, Blues sounds good, but when I switch to 'solo' all I ever get is something that sounds like the 'blues' mode.

1. If I am in clean, and hit 'solo' - it sounds like 'blues'
2. If I hit the little black switch and make 'clean 'blues', and then hit solo, it doesn't sound any different at all.

Is this something I should send back to Mesa for repair (could be expensive), or do you think a local repair tech may be able to fix this (anyone know one in the Balto area)

I have emailed the seller to see if he may be willing to knock off some $$ in lieu of an outright return, I really would prefer to keep this one - it even has the nicer knobs that you can actually tell where the setting is.

actually, nevermind.

I did some snooping on the Mesa website and there are 4 authorized repair centers right here in MD. In fact, one of them is within a few miles of where I work. Not having to box it up and ship it off sure would be nice.

I think there is a little plate under the bottom. When you take the plate off there is an attenuator screw and a switch for the solo function. Flip the switch and see if that clears it up before you take it to the shop.

Did that., made no difference. I think the switch is the problem. The tech called me and is still working on it.

when I first got mine I was using the wrong cable

make sure you are using a balanced cable
