Does anyone know what's involved in doing this? It seems that the unit is not auto-power sensing (nothing mentioned of this in the manual). Will I need a new suitable power transformer? What do you guys do when you're touring O/S?

If you are just touring and the conversion is not to be permanent then I would suggest you get an external step-down transformer and leave the V-Twin alone.
Attached is a photo of my V-Twin rack power circuit board taken when I converted mine.

I got my V-Twin rack off eBay in the US and of course it was a 110V model. When I phoned Mesa’s in the States I was told that the V-Twin definitely did not have a dual voltage transformer and that I would have to contact Mesa’s agent in the UK to order a UK (240V) transformer. However, the power transformer is dual voltage and as can be seen in the photo, the power circuit board allows for conversion between 110, 117 & 220V via those 'links'. Also the main circuit board states “100 volt/220 volt Jump R2, R116, R148”. There was no way I was going to order a UK transformer through the agent especially as I didn’t need one, so I took the chance and swapped out those ‘links’. It works just fine. Open your V-Twin up and take a look or get an amp tech to take a look.

My v-twin rackmount finally arrived and I did the 240v conversion following Ian's info. Was a piece of cake. Swapped in some new tubes at the same time and I must say I'm pretty happy.
