I've got a Mesa Fifty/Fifty and I want to change the stock Mesa power tubes with SED-6L6GCs. My question is that do all 4 power tubes have to match for correct operation just when using one side of the amp in mono?

Is it possible just to replace the Mesa tubes in the A side of the amp with the SEDs? Since I never use the amp in stereo I could save some money just by purchasing a pair.

I've also got a pair of JJ KT-77s lying around the house that I bought for my EL34 Laney. Rumour has it they can also be used as 6L6 replacements. Can anyone confirm this? I would like to try them out also if it's safe.

-Thanks

as long as the tubes bias up right in the amp it is okay to use them as you describe.
