I have a POD HD500 that I use for rehearsing, I always plug it direct to the mix, 2 x XLR (L+R) panned and the sound is huge! It sounds great and fat, cuts nicely through the band mix.
I just got my first TA, and planning to use it together with the HD500 as an FX unit and MIDI controller only (all amp, speakers, mic emulating will be switched off).
Did anyone ever try this configuration? Or maybe with another kind of amp emulator (like the BOSS GT's or other units) ?

Another thing, does anyone uses the TA plugged direct to the mix (like I mentioned above with the HD500) ?

Thanks

I'm currently using the POD HD Pro in my touring rack as FX and it works great.

I go direct to the board via the TA Record out into the PALMER PDI-09 (usually attenuate the signal -30dBs). Then we filter out the lows to 100Hz and the highs 12kHz while sweeping the mids -6dBs.

Sounds boss.

You can use the TA direct outputs into a PDI-09 set to mellow and attenuated -30dBs and it would have the same effect.

Couple of tips:
1. Keep the Master under 4.0
2. If MIDI Thru doesn't switch the FX setting, then try using the MIDI out.
3. Make sure the POD is set to MIDI channel 2.
4. Have fun!

p.s: how do you use the TA presets corresponding to the HD ?
What I mean is, do you use 4 presets / bank same for the TA or….?
What is the basic configuration ?
For example, I use to had a 4 channel preamp (before the TA) and I run it this way (4 preset / bank) together with the HD

Anyone else running a similar setup ?

I run the HD500 in the FX loop of the TA:
Guitar > TA guitar input.
TA send > HD500 guitar in.
HD500 main out L+R > TA return L+R.
It sounds good, very good, also connected the MIDI between them and the HD500 is now switching the TA presets as well.

Anyone tried a different connection of this 2 ?
Thanks.
