Using mark iv as power amp

I'm running my triaxis into the loop return of my mark iv; basically using the iv as just a power amp.

2 questions:
1. Volume is WAY low. Everything on 10 is still unusable in a band situation. Why?

2. Does it matter what channel the mark iv is on? I used the clean channel, but perhaps the lead power channel has some benefits?

Only the Master Output Volume (and maybe the Graphic EQ) is operational.

Are you using the Triaxis effect send or the main output? If the former, is the effect send on and the master up in each patch? If the later, is the master output up and the loop engaged on the Mark IV?

I use a plethora of preamps with my Mark IV power section and it's way more than loud enough.
