I like my Keeley TS9DX Flexi 4X2, nice modded Tubescreamers. However, op amps are definitely overrated...

This is a fantastic overdrive as well.

I have had most of the t/screamers and clones, and the best by a street, imho, is the TC Vintage Overdrive, wonderful pedal!

Sorry, but when people start saying that it's like night and day for them, it's really hard to believe, especially if I have heard the differences myself...

Got a modded TS-9 on eBay from "deadeye-beve", it's most excellent. You get four chips: JRC4558, LM833N, RC4558P, and the stock TA7558P. Haven't got to them all yet, but the JRC is the tits. A bit more gain than stock, more clarity, the tone control actually works somewhat.
Also the MI Audio Blue Boy is another good JRC4558 pedal. No typical mid-hump, more gain than a stock TS-9, adjustable for a tight/loose feel by adding bass before clipping.

i bought an ibanez ts9dx turbo maybe 18 months ago and was impressed with the tone it gave. Id tried boss pedals on rare occations and found them to be crap so never used any pedals at all for 3 years of gigging, just the dirty channel on a orange rocker 30 head. The TS9dx didnt really go with the orange and the tone I was looking for at the time so I sold it after a week.

Now I have the duel rectifier 3ch head im spoiled for choice with tone options and I just got a Maxon OD808 after witnessing the 'lack of mid clarity' etc these amps seem to have. I have to say Im impressed with the difference it makes to the head sound, it makes it growl more and really adds something nice to the tone but not overkill. Icing on the mesa cake maybe. I use it with no drive and a little more volume and it works great. Im getting very good blues tones now and the pedal just doubles the tone options across the channels.

Im very very very fussy about tone and have not used pedals before because they sap the a class valve tone I had with the orange but was impressed with the ts9dx and the maxon. I bought the maxon as they used to make the tubescreamers and Im pleased I did. For me to say I like something to do with guitars etc doesnt happened very often.

Perfectionism runs through my veins i think

DUDE,
before you get rid of it send it to analogman for the silver/808 mod. seriously. best overdrive I have ever heard (and I've heard LOTS). I even like it better than my King of Tone, but I use the boost on the KOT in conjunction with the silver TS-9. The ultimate tube screamer if you ask me. Modding the pedal you already have will only run you 75 bucks plus shipping. I have three of these babies on my board.
