Hi everybody i have been lurking on this board for over a year now, and thought it was about time that i made a post.
My metal band Transparent have just recorded 4 new songs of blazing metal, hear two of them at
www.transparent-metal.com or at
http://www.myspace.com/transparentmetal

The songs are my criterion 666 and foresights(the seven seals) amps used were Boogie mark 4 and a Johnson millinium stereo 250, if you have any questions or comments then feel free to ask or say your honest opinion.-Danny

not the kind of music I listen at home (would love to be at a live performance though!) but I love how guitars sound huge! Did you use any boost pedal with the MarkIV? and... is it the MarkIV at the intro of Foresight?

Yes we used a Maxon od820 to boost the Boogie and the start of Foresights is the Johnson.

here are some pictures from the recording

I noticed you have both gain and lead drive on 10 on your boogie, while Treble is set quite low (about 6.5)... do you find these settings to be better than, let's say, higher treble (which adds gain) and lead drive and gain reduced?

Good stuff Metalizer! At first I thought it was heavy, then I turned up my subwoofer and it just turned HUGE!

For example, the kick drum had the appropriate "click" sound for your style, but it was mussing the thump. Also, the whole mix was missing that killer low end rumble before I cranked my sub.

Now, my sub is good enough to fill out a sound of a professional mix without tweaking it. That tells me that your mix isn't going to translate well to most systems. It also tells me the mixing/mastering speakers were too generous with the bass freq's and/or the song was mixed down too loud, which overemphasized the bass freq's and resulted in less bass in the final press. If you have access, you might want to go back and remix/remaster to add more bass.

Otherwise, good stuff!

Acually i´m not the one playing the Boogie, i play Johnson (and have later bought an Engl e670 se.)
I´m pretty sure that the eq was changed alittle after the photo was taken, so don´t rely to much on those settings, the sound on the cd was a great recording sound, but it sounded alittle boring in the rehearsalroom, also remember we are quad tracking and using two different mics plus two different preamps, and don´t forget the Maxon boost pedal.
