the second of the two is the way a stock tremoverb looks. The first one looks like it had a grille replaced at one point or at the very least the owner replaced the black piping with white and threw on that name plate you normally see on the Recto Cabs

well actually, this is sort of a new question...

are there actually two types of tremoverbs?...cuz i heard that they started making different ones after a certain point in the 90s, and i'm not talking about the switch from tremoverbs to rectoverbs. if there are two such different ones, whats the difference?

The very early ones are a Revision F circuit board. The later ones are a Revision G. I believe it's how it goes, though I'm no tremover expert. For more info on revisions click on my site in the sig.

My first Tremoverb, which was destroyed in a fire, looked like the first picture also. Except mine had black piping. It did have the larger centered logo and the large gray casters. Even more of a curiosity was that I also had a Rectifier 2x12 horizontal extension cab that had an angled base like a monitor. I've never seen another one since.
