Tung Sol 12AX7 in Nomad 45

I just dropped one in my Nomad and replaced V2 with a Phillips 12AX7.

Wow. Its like a different amp.

I am a total believer in tube swaps now. I am woondering how a set of nicer EL84s will sound. Any suggestions from Nomad 45 owners?

I believe there are 3 brands of EL84s currently produced; Sovtek(lowest), Ei, and JJ. JJ and Ei are probably the highest tonal quality current production EL84 but the Sovteks will probably last longer. Call Bob or Doug for a retube to ensure you get a matched set that is selected based on your tonal needs (IE late or early breakup).
