Tube question

I got my Mark V about two weeks ago. Should I swap my tubes out for Tung Sols I put in my IV? They have 20 to 30 hours on them.

I'd give it a shot, just for comparison if nothing else.

I also recommend trying out some SED EL34s, those sound awesome in the mark V :twisted:

I might try some el34s eventually, but their reliability has me wondering.

I'd say its definitely worth it just to try 'em out once. How much I liked the EL34s over the 6l6s has me wondering about other tubes, and I am thinking about picking up some KT77s to try out and see how I like those

Yeah, I contacted Doug's tubes (I trust them more than eurotubes) and he said that KT77s would work fine and safely with the bias in EL34 mode

I can't quite put my finger on what it was, but when I ordered from him a few months, I got the sense that he didn't know much about the Mark V. Maybe it was because he had no idea how many pre-amp tubes it took or what they did.

I called Doug and got the same thing. He had not had a chance to get his hands on a MKV yet. He was honest about it, and I give him credit for that. I ended up getting some JJ EL34's on the cheap from RackCrew.com. Turns out they are actually here in Atlanta. Kinda funny to hunt tubes on the web and then find the store 10 miles from home.... :lol:

Aye but it can take 3 hours to travel 10 miles in atlanta hehe.Dont see how you guys stand it
