seen a lot of posts on mixing EL34s and 6L6s. But what about 6V6s? I know you can run 4 6V6s in Tweed power mode. But can you mix 2 6V6s and 2 6L6s in Tweed power? If so, any recommendations as to the positions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

yeah you can.

putting them in the outer pair keeps 45w mode at around 45 watts (less, since you're in variac, but anyway...)

putting them in the inner pair would drop 45w mode to 20w mode or something.(basically a deluxe reverb type of thing)

Note the inside pair is biased hotter in the Mark V.

I liked the second combo. then you have simul with all four tubes and a much lower power AB 6V6 mode.

keep in mind if you are running two 6V6s by themselves, the amp is much quieter and you'll need to goose her a bit more.

There has not been extensive testing with running mixed tubes in 10W mode. I did this for a short period of time when I first got my amp (inner/outer 6V6/6L6, EL34/6L6, 6L6 bias mode), and it did not immediately blow up. I don't know, however, if it can cause damage to the output transformer over the long term.

Sounds good. I agree I like the idea of the second combo, will give it a try. Much thanks for the info.
