Hi guys,

I recently bought a kit from build your own clone for the tube screamer. In the kit are all the parts to build either a TS8 OR a TS9.

Has anyone tried both with a DR? What the difference? Which do you prefer? Why?

Cool, rock on!

It must have two different IC's in it, I bet you could easily change those after the build and hear for yourself which you'd prefer. If the one is from the original TS808 (JRC4558D) then I'd use that one personally.

I had my ts9 modded by keeley, sounds fantastic . I use it in the front of my stiletto and Rk occasionally just for another option .

Hi,

I am thinking of getting as TS808 as everyone seems to rave about them, but am I right in thinking that if I use it in front of my LSC I could get much more gain, for the rare occasions that I need it? Or should I jost go with something cheaper?

Couldn't agree more ! The opamp should have an interchangeable connector for either chip ! Both are great OD's, I personally like the TS 808 but they are really similar... definitely try both and decide for yourself !

Yeah, it does come with more than one op amp. I think that there is a couple of other differences between the TS8 and TS9. A resistor here and there or something like that. They are very similar though.

There's a bunch of other options in there as well. Like extra diodes for antisymetical clipping (whatever that means) and lots of little extras it should be fun to make and try out. Hopefully there will be time next weekend.

So the TS8 seems to be the one to make first.

Still if it doens't seem too hard I'll swap different parts and hear for myself
