I am new to mesa and decent amps in general and just picked up a triple rectifier a few weeks back. I love this thing. I also got a boss me 70 and it works fine in line but when running through the effects loop any of the od/distortion sounds are turned on it feeds back like crazy. All output levels have been checked and i can make it go away by turning everything way down, but oviously this is annoying as I cant hear the amp!! So is this the reason everyone does the series mod? I've searched through here a bunch and cant quite find specific anwers related to this problem with this amp. Also, when i bought the me 70, I played it through a stilletto and it did not do this. Do they have a different circuit in the loop? I mostly use the delay and reverb so i can make do, it's just freakin annoying that I cant play around with everything else. Any input woul;d be much appreciated from someone new to all this but learning fast...

Distortion and overdrive sounds are meant to be run in front of the amp, after your guitar and before it goes into the input of the amp. And loop is generally between the power amp and the preamp, so when you hit the distortion pedal, the preamp is trying to distort an already distorted tone, and as a result it sounds like poo. Just use the ME-70 as normal IN FRONT of the amp you will be fine.

And Im sure someone with more knowledge will correct me about the power amp/ preamp technicalities. But you get the idea. Hope this helps.
