Tried a 2:90 and 2:95 today...WOW

So i just bought a triaxis and am looking for a poweramp to go with it. I had the chance to try one of the first series 295 as well as a 2:90. I have to say that the 295 was WAYY more full and organic sounding. Am i doing something wrong on the 2:90? I was expecting it to be the ultimate as it is a new design but even with the 3 modes it was lacking compared to the 295. Has anyone else found this as well?

Maybe the tubes were old. Plus the 295 has EL34's in it. Put EL34's in the 2:90's Class A slots, and see how it compares.

Part of the 2:90's goodness is that it's 2 spaces, and a lot lighter than a big 295.

good point! I'll have to try that. I'm even debating using the effects return on my mark III and then i can also use the EQ

Isn't the 2:90 based off the Rectifier power stage?
