Triaxis V2 vs. V1

Might already be answered elsewhere but:
in another thread I read that "V2" doesn't nessecarily means that there is a recto board installed but the "CC software".
I have been avoiding udgrading my V1 Trixaxis because I use the lead red 2 a lot and wanted to keep that BUT I would definetely like to have the possibilities of the CC mode. So: is it possible to just upgrade the cc software - not the recto board?

As far as I know it is possible to only have the V2 software installed without messing with any of the other circuits.
