Hi all

My Triaxis is behaving strange recentely: some of the display numbers seem to malfunction in that some segment of the shown number aren't lit up; this anyway happens in a random fashion; it mostly seem to happen when the pre has warmed up after say, half an hour of use. Some of the segments seem to remain unlit more than others. Should I suppose that some LEDs are in need of replacement or (as I seem to remember I red somewhere) there's a flat cable that might not be seated right or a bit loose?

Thanx

L.G.

Most likely the cable. LEDs last a very long time, and are rarely intermittent. Though the Triaxis panel does have these problems as well, since it is a flexible panel design.

I would try cleaning the contacts on the ribbon cables and reseating them first. That is an easy fix. Next you may want to replace the ribbon cables, which Mesa often does. The last resort would be a new panel.

Elvis is right. The ribbon cable is often the culprit. I Sent my triaxis back to Mesa for overhaul for the identical issue. After several ribbon cable cleanings and rack istallations I had enough. It became too unpredictable when it would get "goofy". Mesa fixed it and it was affordable. My unit has been tip top ever since.

Hi all

Just an update: I tried to unplug the ribbon connectors from their sockets (the two just behind the LED display) and reseat them snugly; unfortunately the display still behaves wrong. I'm starting to suspect that a few leds in the meters are blown (also because the LD1 yellow ed on the right side looks to be blown so maybe something happened), and that I'm in for some servicing from the authorized repair shop.

It's a bit of an hassle as I'll have to ship it to another town and I'm sure it'll take forever to have an evaluaton on the repair cost and the fix...but being a quite involved piece of gear I don't trust having it serviced by a local amp repair shop...what do you think?

Gerax,
Send it direct to Mesa and ask for an overhaul. Mesa is slow to turn around and you will get hit with a return ship charge, but it's surprisingly affordable. They will check it from top to bottom and replace and upgrade all components needing it. My Triaxis looks brand new too because I told them to replace the faceplate membrane... and my triaxis was the 26th one made. (yes, I said #26)

Hmmm, I hope that would be an easy thing, but I'm from Italy and the round trip to Petaluma and back is going to make the repair a bit on the expensive side...let alone customs fees and issues...

I checked Mesa's web site and they are listing their Italian authorized service center (which is practically the Italian dealer), but I'm afraid it'll take long...
