Hello all, just looking for some advice, opinions and settings that have worked for people,

i've read loads on the internet that the triaxis distortions can be greatly improved using a external EQ rather than the on board Dynamic Voicing,

I have a G major, which i know is a popular combination for many people with the Triaxis/2:90. I was wondering if anyone could share some settings or advice, for EQ, to just help my out my Distortion tone,

I know it completely depends on my setup/what tones i'm after, (Petrucci i guess crisp, tight, etc ) but i thought if someone could help me out with some settings that have worked for them on their external EQ's, i can tweak from there, doesnt have to be GMajor specific (but would be good) as i have Boss GT Pro aswell with big eq on it,

Thanks very much for your time, hope to get some replies.

Me personally, I find the Dynamic Voice much more effective than the G-Major EQ. I just can't seem to get enough bass response out of the G-Major, and the Dynamic Voice gives me plenty.

But that's not to say others haven't had better results. I'd be interested to try out settings if anyone has any to share for the G-Major.

Gmajor eq = -8 at 800 Khz 4 octaves.

If you use DP,you can scoop mids but you'll add too much bass.
If you need more bass add on gmajor +4 80Hz 2 octaves.
If you had 2.90,you just turn on DEEP mode to havy more bass.
Remember those are to my tastes, but it's a start to you.

DP is cra.p because you have to follow what is programmed, with an external equalizer you have what you're needing.

Yeah, the DynamicVoicing is just the V shape on a five-band Mark series-style EQ. The higher it is set, the bigger the shape goes. (Higher number = more bass, less mids, more treble)

I much prefer to use an external EQ (MXR M-108) after the TA's output, and leave the DV off. Settings though vary greatly depending on which guitar, poweramp, and speakers are used.

My advice-find a really good parametric EQ. There aren't too many out there now, but there are a few. I have a Rane PE 15 (which is discontinued, but the newer model the PE 17 is available now) and it works great. There the best way to shape and tone the sound the way YOU want it.
