hello all,
i have tremoverb head that's a great ch. 2 gain but the ch. 1 clean is just not there in volume. also, the clean ch. has a gain to it but as i'm turning the knob to have her at about 11-12 o clock, it jumps to a disortion tone big time. not a gradual shift in tone but like night and day. the volume knob is at about noon too. i'm also to think that the cab i'm running it through would be the problem as well since it's an old carvin 4x12 with celestions (dunno exactly the type they're cheaper type from 1988). i will be getting a recto cab to accommodate both the mark v & the tremoverb so hopefully that will help as well. i have always had this problem & have lived with it thinking that this must be the design of the head. any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. also, it was recently retubed with all new mesa tubes, preamp and power. thanks for reading.

hey man, I only had the ToV for a short time. It bugs me that with the gain at 9:00 and the volume amp there is not much clean headroom unless you either strum not too hard or switch to bold, then you get all the clean that you want but then the other channels need to be pushed more and tube life reduces.

You're not alone. I split my time between using my T-Verb combo on it's own, and adding my 4x12 Recto cab....and I get this both ways. I think it's just the amp's design. I run my ch1 on the Clean setting all the time, but I usually have my Volume up to about 7-8 to get it to proper volume (which would be absurdly loud on any other setting!)

ah thanks for that..i thought that it was me. i got a guy who will look at it as well. the reverb is another issue, because whenever i use the effects loop, it's totally gone. good thing i'm running a delay through it.
