Hi folks,

So..I'm playing rockabilly..nice change from the usual stuff I play.

Thing is, I'm kindof set in my ways with my tremoverb.
Can any if u fine folk advise me on a cool rockabilly tone with this amp?
I'm using a gretsch 6120 sslvo.
Ideally I'd like a really pure slightly driven clean tone. Is like to be able to swich channels and get a more driven sound for solos.
Also ...what tubes work best for this?

Thanks for your time;)

Try 12AT7s in V5 and V6 (the two rear preamp tubes) - this will give you more clarity, twang and better reverb. NOS throughout will help if you can afford it. (I'm running GE 12AX7s in V1-4, JAN/Philips 12AT7s in V5-6, GE 6L6s and GE 5V4 rectifiers, I always use Vacuum Tube.)

Use the Orange clean channel cloned to Modern (really - Vintage engages the 'blanket' circuit ;)) for the clean sound, and probably the Red on Blues with the treble and presence up for the pushed sound, although Modern High Gain with the gain backed off a long way also works quite well.

What if you use the Orange channel and don't clone it to Red, but instead ad EQ in the FXLoop?

What do you think about that 94T?

Just wondering.

Don't know, never tried it. It will still have the vintage 'blanket' circuit in operation though. Or I should say, it will if the amp is working normally! The blanket circuit on mine is broken and I have no intention of fixing it :). So basically my clean is cloned to Modern the whole time, which means I can do something even more useful, which is to clone the Red channel to Vintage (without blanket) and still have the clean Modern, which is something you can't do with a stock Tremoverb. The only way to get it (if you don't want to break your blanket circuit) would be to have two two-way switches for the channel cloning instead of one three-way.

Damn.

I want your configuration.

I would rather not make adjustments for a blanket circuit...I would rather remove the blanket circuit.

It's like your taking away frequencies and then adding them back in with a third party plug in...so to speak.

That sucks.

I should go to my local Authorized Mesa Boogie Technician and remove the damn thing.

Hmmm.....

If you want to do it in a simple reversible way, all you need to do is to find LDR10 and cut one of the four leads on it, and leave the cut ends with a little space between them - it doesn't matter which one, any of them will stop it working. The leads are stiff enough that they will stay where you put them, you don't need to tie them or anything. If you ever want to put it back, just solder the cut ends together.

Mine just stopped working all by itself before I owned the amp, as they sometimes do on old Tremoverbs, and it was only when I was trying to find out why the cloning switch didn't do anything on the clean mode that I found out why mine sounded so much better than the other ones I've played ;).

Does anyone have a pic of this.

I will take a look and thanks Brother.
