hey guys,i recently bought a 2x12 combo tremoverb and it sounds great except, when using the modern high gain channel it doesnt like to take any bass over half or it starts to sound all muffled, and when palm muting it sounds like it is really S%$ting itself.i have never had any problem with vintage high gain, only modern.all tubes had been replaced and the problem still occured???? any ideas?

i dont think theres anything wrong with your amp, thats the way mine is too, i have the same amp. i run the bass at about 9:00 and never past 11:00. alot of mesas are like that.

yeah i think u r right,i have fugured out that while the amp is on standby crank the volume up high(must warm the tubes up more) then i put it down to the volume i use and presto the problem is usually fixed.....i dont think these amps like to be run at LOW volume.thanks buddy

actually i think there designed to get a good tone without cranking them. i tried mine with an attenuator and with the volume from 8- max'd. and it sounded better with the volume low, no attenuator and just using the gain to shape the tone. it seem s thatthe power amp section is very clean. another thing i found is as you turn the gain up your tone gets worse. 10:00 -11:30 is the max i set the gain and its pure, beefy and crunchy.

****** thing is my reverb and tremolo barely work...

yeah once i eliminated the crappy bass sound it sounds very mean i now run the bass at about 1400 and gain is at 1200 but i use a t rex mab overdrive and its also at 1200 gain i am in to heavy rock so i need alot of gain.i havnt even heard this amp about 2 volume yet lol

yeah even with hard rock its better to run the gain lower. when yuo turn it up high you loose all your dynamics, guitar tone with no dynamics sonds like mush.
