Hey all,

I have a Dual Rec with the parallel effects loop.
Should I mod it or just buy the new mutli-watt version with the serial loop?

I'm returning my G Major2 today that I've had for over a month with no luck and hours of tweaking to get a decent clean tone (killdry and all) and probably getting the M13 or Eventide pedals. I presently have the GT6/pedals(6 years) that sound awesome but I want to switch to a midi/rack setup.
Too bad Boss doesn't have something similar to the M13. :(
Any suggestions??
Thanks for any input!

I would mod it to serial. I fought with the parallel loop for years before modding mine. It was a very easy mod and now the loop does exactly what I hoped it would. It went from totally unusable to great. If you like the amp then modding it is a lot easier than selling yours and buying another amp.

Thanks for the reply. I really didn't have a problem with it until now... is the mod a true serial mod or will it still bleed a little? I thought that I read that on here somewhere.
I can do the mod myself so no worries there, I just want to make sure it's worth it and there aren't any issues afterwards. Thanks again!

Unless I'm mistaken it is a true serial mod. Mesa sent me the specs. I have a Single Rec and it totally bypassed the mix knob. I did the mod last summer and have had no issues at all. I play it at the house all the time and had around ten gigs since the mod with no problems. I hope it works out as well for you as it did for me.

Can anyone else chime in about it bleeding over at all or not after the mod?

there is still a tiny little bleeding left after the mod, but i can only hear it with the mastervolume turned way down to bedroom level.
in the normal playing situation, it doesn´t matter.

i´ve done the loop mods to all of my mesa amps with parallel loops, it´s just easy to do and very effective.

Thanks for the response. I guess I'll be contacting Mesa for the schematics. It just amazes me that my GT6 can sound good and that the gmajor2 didn't. Thanks again for the input!

I'm not a very heavy fx-loop user, but... what do you guys not like about the parallel loop?
My guess is that you get the amp sounding like you bypass the loop, but with the loop on?

I run a Boss Delay and Chorus in the loop and I had to keep the level very low on the pedals when I had the parallel loop. If I put the level high enough to really hear the effect it created a weird electronic helicopter sound (even with the guitar volume off). I tried with the amp's master volume, mix knob on the amp, and pedal level knobs in a ton of different positions and could not dial it in just right. With the serial loop I can dial the pedals in any way I want and it sounds great. I can actually hear the effects now and not have any issues.

ok... strange. I never experienced that things with the loop. I usually have a Hardwire Reverb in there and sometimes I add a Boss CH-1 at home.

perhaps i'm an idiot, but when i use my parallel F/X loop the amp doesn't sound good even when i didn't have the effects switched on. I tried and tried to mess with the knobs but couldn't figure it out. Now I just run my effects in front of my amp.
