Video of our thrash band playing live (I'm the rhythm guitar, vocal dude)

One of our original songs, "The Cult"

Damage Inc. cover

I used the Mesa TriAxis into the Marshall JVM410H's power section (which is almost identical to the JCM800s power section), didn't have the 2:90 at that point.

I gotta say, the TriAxis+JVM blend sounds great, truly a unique mix of Mesa and Marshall. The tone is mostly Mesa-like but the Marshall's character starts coming through when you crank it (ergo plenty of it when playing live)

Sorry, the recordings aren't much but considering the equipment with which they were taken, they are OK, I guess.

(Other guitarist uses an ENGL Powerball with Jackson SL2H in case anyone wants to know)

Sounds good...considering the MoP album was a IIC+ into a JCM 800 power section for the most part, you we're on track for a pretty authentic tone... 8)

Thanks! Not my goal to imitate Hetfield's tone though, I like his tone, but I like mine better

The funny part is that I always had this idea of running a Mesa preamp (preferrably the TriAxis) into a Marshall (preferrably JCM800) poweramp when I started flirting with high-end tube gear, even before I knew about the setup Metallica had in the Puppets days... And I just happen to buy a JVM, which has a power section nearly identical to a JCM800, and add a TriAxis later. Maybe its fate

I think the 2:90 compliments the TriAxis better though, especially for the Mark IV tones, Recto stuff and clean sounds. Cleans with EL34 based poweramps just don't seem to sparkle as much as 6L6 ones. There Marshalls poweramp does add some tightness to the low end, some roaring midrange and a bit of biting highs. There isn't a world of difference in tone, but it is noticeable. I'd say it affects feel a lot more though. (2:90 seems looser)
